Main courses include streaky bay garfish or whole baby snapper but many go for seafood platters which are so big they sit elevated on stands on the table. A selection of 18 hot and cold entrees run from oysters, warm moreton bay bug salad and lightly crumbed tiger prawns. Three waitresses converged as we sat down delivering bread, dipping oil, water and menus. The main dining room is bright and breezy, with light wooden tables and a subtle nautical theme. Diners can sit outside or go inside the two-storey restaurant and take in the views from behind big windows. The seafood specialist in the holdfast shores development has a premier waterfront location with views over the marina, out to sea and down glenelg beach. The captain's choice has two big, sweet garfish fillets lightly crumbed, topped with a skewer of scallops and served with chips and salad.
